The Online Store Platform Built in Hawaii, Without the Hidden Costs

Lokahi is Gohoku's own ecommerce platform, built and supported by our Honolulu team for Hawaii businesses that need a real online presence. Lōkahi is the Hawaiian word for unity, and that is the idea: your storefront, retail and wholesale orders, inventory, shipping, tax, gift cards, loyalty points, email marketing and bookkeeping link work as one system instead of a base plan with a dozen paid apps stacked on top. You keep your own payment processor, Gohoku takes no percentage of your sales, and every feature on this page is part of the product. If the bill for your current store keeps growing while the store stays the same, Lokahi was made for you.

A Storefront Built to Sell

Category pages with filters for options and price, sorting and paging. A search box that shows results as you type, forgives typos and understands Hawaiian spelling, so "pau" finds "Pāʻū". Quick view, a favorites list, a cart that is still there when the shopper comes back, and a Notify Me button on sold-out items.

Products, Variants and Options

Photos, formatted descriptions, spec lists, a video link and sale prices that start and end on the dates you set. Variants on up to three choices such as size and color, each with its own SKU, barcode, price, weight, photo and stock, plus color swatches. Reusable option groups for customizations that can add a fixed or percentage cost. Brand, part number, validated barcodes, country of origin and customs codes. Bulk editing, a SKU generator, and spreadsheet import and export with photo matching.

Categories, Collections and Merchandising

A category tree with sub-categories, hand-picked collections and a board for mapping products to both. Pin products to the top, lift sale items and new arrivals, rank by best sellers, newest or price, and push sold-out items to the end. Product sets that go together, You May Also Like suggestions learned from what customers actually buy together, and a Picked for You row.

Inventory You Can Trust

Every stock change is recorded with a reason. Stock is reserved at checkout and deducted on the order, with a switch to block overselling and backorders allowed per product. Low-stock levels with a daily e-mail digest, quick adjustments, stock takes and spreadsheet import and export. A reorder list grouped by supplier with suggested quantities and lead times, expected restock dates, and figures for stock value, sell-through, days of cover and dead stock. Stock can be set aside for retail or for wholesale.

Checkout and Payments

A one-page checkout for guests or signed-in customers, with totals worked out on the server. Connect your own Stripe, Square, PayPal or Authorize.net account, and the card form appears on your own checkout page. Promo codes, gift cards and loyalty points are all redeemed in the same step. Unpaid orders are held for a time you choose with a Pay Now link, and local pickup has its own instructions and ready-for-pickup e-mail.

Shipping from Hawaii, Priced Correctly

Flat rates, rates by order value or by weight, free shipping over an amount, local pickup, and live UPS, FedEx and USPS rates from your own carrier accounts. Box packing with dimensional weight, items that ship separately or need no shipping, handling fees, a markup and a safety buffer for when the carrier under-quotes. Choose the countries and regions you ship to, show delivery estimates, and see what you charged against what shipping cost you.

Sales Tax and Hawaii GET

Tax zones by country, state or ZIP code, with multiple and compound rates, tax classes for standard, reduced and untaxed goods, tax-inclusive pricing and tax on shipping. Suggested starting rates for every US state, a Try an Address calculator, tax-exempt customers, and a tax report your accountant can open in a spreadsheet. Refunds reverse the tax in proportion.

Orders and Fulfillment

Search, filter and bulk-update orders, and export them to a spreadsheet. Each order has a timeline, notes, an editable address, carrier and tracking, partial shipments, a printable packing slip, cancellation that puts stock back exactly, and full or partial refunds sent through your payment processor. Customers get an e-mail at each step and can look up an order without an account, and your team gets a new-order alert.

Returns and Store Credit

Customers request a return online inside the return window you set. You approve it with a return number, receive the goods and issue a credit note that is refunded, applied to another order or kept as store credit. Return reasons can carry a restocking fee.

Discounts and Promotions

Percent or dollar amounts off the cart or off chosen items, fixed prices, free items, buy X get Y, bundle and group prices, quantity and spend tiers, and free or reduced shipping. Rules by cart value, contents, destination or shipping method, for everyone or for new, returning, tagged or specific customers. Coupon codes or automatic discounts, schedules, usage limits, stacking rules, messages that show how close a cart is to the next reward, and a simulator to test a promotion before it goes live.

Gift Cards and Loyalty Points

Sell gift cards in any denomination and have the code e-mailed once the order is paid, or issue one yourself with a message and an expiry date. Customers can use several cards on one order, spend part of a balance and check what is left online. Loyalty points are earned on paid orders and redeemed at checkout at the rate you set, and are taken back if the order is refunded.

E-mail Marketing and Automations

Build campaigns from ready-made blocks, send to customer segments, schedule them, and test subject lines against each other. Welcome, abandoned-cart and win-back e-mails send themselves. Reports show opens, clicks and the revenue each campaign brought in. Sign-up with confirmation, one-click unsubscribe, a preference page and subscriber import are included, and every order e-mail your customers receive can be reworded for your store.

Pages and Content Without a Developer

A page builder with 36 kinds of block, including hero banners, galleries, video, maps, testimonials, FAQs, forms and product rows, and 18 starting templates. Drafts, revision history, preview links, scheduled publishing and sections you can reuse across pages. Form replies arrive in an inbox. Edit the header and footer menus yourself, and manage redirects with a list of the missing addresses visitors ran into.

Themes and Custom Design

Your store wears a theme your designer fully controls, with settings you can change without code and a code editor for when you want to. Preview a new look by private link, switch it on, and roll back in one click. Checkout and account pages carry your design too, and the retail shop and wholesale site can each have their own. Gohoku designs and builds the theme for you, or your own designer can use the theme kit.

SEO Built In

Clean web addresses, canonical tags, an automatic sitemap, and structured data for products, prices, breadcrumbs and FAQs so Google can show rich results. Titles, descriptions and sharing images for every product and page, a search score for each page with one-click fixes, redirects from your old addresses, and a Google Shopping product feed.

Wholesale and B2B Trade Portal

A separate trade site for your wholesale buyers, run from the same products, stock and orders as your retail shop. Trade applications, price levels and quantity breaks, quick ordering by SKU, quotes, net terms and credit limits, invoices, statements and online invoice payment, sales reps and commissions. The full list is further down this page.

Customers and Accounts

Shoppers get an account with order history, an address book, favorites and e-mail preferences. Your team sees account holders and guests in one list with tags, notes, a timeline, repeat rate and lifetime value. When a customer needs a hand, they read you a six-digit code and you fill the cart for them, or you send a ready-made cart by link.

Dashboard, Analytics and Reports

A dashboard you arrange yourself with revenue, orders, average order value, low stock and pickups. Sales over time against the previous period, top products, best sellers, sales forecast, items bought together, and the path from cart to checkout to paid order. See what shoppers search for and whether they buy. Google Analytics 4 and Meta Pixel tags are built in and respect cookie consent.

QuickBooks Online and Xero

Sales, refunds, gift cards and wholesale invoices post to QuickBooks Online or Xero with the accounts mapped the way your bookkeeper wants, daily or order by order, with a log of what was sent. A journal export is there for any other accounting system.

Japanese, Korean and More

Offer your store in more than one language, each with its own web address so search engines index every version. Product, category, page, menu and e-mail text can all be translated. Store wording comes ready in English, Japanese and Korean, and other languages can be added. An optional AI assistant drafts translations, search descriptions and tags in your brand's voice for you to review.

Security, Privacy and Staff Roles

Staff join by invitation, with two-step sign-in, lockout after failed attempts, a warning when a password has appeared in a known breach, and the ability to sign out a lost device. Ten ready-made roles, from owner to order processor to accountant, plus your own. Changes to products are recorded with who made them. Card details go straight to your payment processor. A cookie consent banner and customer data erasure are included.

Fast on Every Device

Pages are built on the server and cached, so they load quickly on a phone over a weak signal. Photos are resized and served in modern formats automatically, loaded only as they scroll into view, and the whole storefront is designed for phones first.

Hawaii Ecommerce Platform FAQ

More than the plan price. If you take payments through a processor other than Shopify's own, Shopify adds its own fee of up to 2% of each sale on top of what the processor charges. Features most stores end up needing, such as wholesale pricing, loyalty points, product options, returns and fuller e-mail marketing, usually come from apps that each bill monthly, and a premium theme is a separate purchase. None of these is large alone. Together they are why the bill is often two or three times the advertised plan.

With one quote. Tell us about your catalog, whether you sell wholesale, and what you want designed or moved from your old store, and we give you one number with setup and support stated up front. Gohoku does not take a percentage of your sales, and the features on this page are the product, not add-ons. Call 888-815-0038 for a quote.

Stripe, Square, PayPal and Authorize.net. You connect your own account, the money goes straight from the processor to your bank, and you pay only the rate you agreed with them. If you already use one of these, you keep it.

Yes. Tax is set by zone, down to ZIP code, so the rate you pass on to customers can differ between Oahu and a neighbor island and be left off orders shipped where you do not collect. Lokahi suggests a starting rate for Hawaii and every other state, and Gohoku sets the zones up with you. Confirm the rates with your accountant, as tax rules are yours to follow. Wholesale buyers can file a resale certificate so their orders are not taxed.

Yes. Create different shipping methods for different destinations, for example a flat rate within Hawaii, live USPS, UPS or FedEx rates to the mainland, and weight-based rates abroad, each with its own conditions and free-shipping threshold. You choose exactly which countries and regions you ship to, and local pickup is there for customers nearby.

Yes. Gohoku moves it for you. Products, variants, photos and stock levels come across by spreadsheet import, your subscriber list is imported with its consent status, and your old web addresses are redirected to the new ones so the Google rankings you have earned are not lost. You review the new store on a private link before anything is switched over.

Yes. The trade portal is part of Lokahi, not an extra product. Retail customers and wholesale buyers each get their own site and their own prices, while your team works from one catalog, one stock count and one order screen. You can also run wholesale only.

Yes. Lokahi stores can run in several languages, and the built-in wording for buttons, checkout and e-mails already comes in English, Japanese and Korean. You translate your products and pages, with the optional AI assistant drafting them for you to check, and each language gets its own address for search engines.

No. Lokahi is for selling online, both retail and wholesale. It does not replace the register in your shop. Because Lokahi works with Square and the other major processors, many shops keep the counter system they have and use the same processor for online orders.

Gohoku does, from Honolulu. We design the store, load your products, connect payments, shipping and tax, train your staff, and stay available afterward. When you call, you reach the people who wrote the software, during Hawaii business hours.

The Hidden Costs of Shopify, and How Lokahi Avoids Them

Shopify is a good product, and its plan price looks simple. The trouble is what the plan price leaves out. Use your own payment processor and Shopify charges an extra fee on every sale. Want wholesale price lists, loyalty points, product customizations, a returns process or serious e-mail marketing? Each is typically another app with another monthly charge, and Shopify keeps its own wholesale features for its enterprise plan. Every one of those apps is also another company holding your customer data and another thing that can break at an update.

Lokahi takes the opposite approach. Wholesale, gift cards, loyalty, returns, promotions, e-mail marketing, multiple languages and the accounting link are all built in by one team, and Gohoku does not take a cut of what you sell.

Built in Hawaii, for How Hawaii Sells

Selling from the islands is not the same as selling from the mainland. Shipping costs more and under-quoting it eats your margin, so Lokahi lets you price by destination, pack by box size and add a buffer. General excise tax is not an ordinary sales tax, so tax is set by zone and ZIP code. Visitors go home and want to order again, often in Japanese or Korean. Customers search for Hawaiian words with and without the ʻokina and kahakō, so Lokahi finds them either way. And when something needs attention at three in the afternoon in Honolulu, the people who can fix it are awake and a local call away.

Wholesale Built In, Not Bolted On

If you supply shops, hotels, hālau or resellers, the Lokahi trade portal gives them a professional place to buy. Buyers apply online with their documents and trade references, and you approve them. Each account can have several buyers with roles, spending limits and order approvals.

Pricing covers price levels and price lists, quantity breaks, pack sizes and minimums, a minimum order, levels that follow twelve-month spend, quarterly volume rebates, and scheduled price changes with advance notice. You can limit the catalog each level or account sees.

Buyers order quickly by SKU or barcode, keep saved order lists, reorder past orders, set up standing orders and ask for quotes, with messages attached to each quote and order. Your staff can build draft orders, override prices, view the site as an account and send payment links.

Terms include prepay, Net 15, Net 30, 2/10 Net 30, end of month, deposit and COD, with credit limits and credit hold. Receivables cover invoices, statements, aging, check, ACH and wire payments, late reminders, and online payment of several invoices at once with saved cards and autopay.

Fulfillment handles backorders, partial shipments, ship-complete and ship-after dates, shipping on the buyer's own carrier account, blind drop-shipping and quoted freight. Sales reps get their own accounts and commissions, resellers get line sheets, photo downloads, spec sheets and a product feed, resale certificates are kept on file by state with expiry warnings, and buyers can install the portal on a phone like an app.

One Local Team for Your Store and Your IT

Most online stores are a patchwork: a platform from one company, apps from six more, a freelancer for the design and nobody answerable for the whole. With Lokahi, the company that wrote the platform also designs your store, hosts it, and supports it. Gohoku has built and looked after ecommerce sites for Hawaii businesses for years, and we already know the rest of a retail operation's technology, from the network to the back office. One team, one phone number, one bill.
